Dragan and his mother Zorka stay at their farm on Sokolina only during the summer months. This place holds a special place and meaning for the hosts. This is their bond – an emotional connection to tradition, family life from the days gone past and their everyday life. Primary activities of this household are husbandry and agriculture. Beside the 80-year-old tower, a traditional stone house on Sokolina, they have got a house in CrkvičkoPolje, where they spend their winters.
These hardworking hosts own meadows in both places, Sokolovina and CrkvičkoPolje, and they mow them and gather hay. They have also got gardens where they grow different types of vegetables. Their herds of indigenous sort pivskapramenkasheep and goats are placed in the village all the time, and that is why Dragan has to travel daily between these two locations.
The abundance in natural and culturalheritage, together with the hospitality of hosts, provides a true picture of the region’s way of life to our guests. The household is situated in the nature park called Piva. If you want to reach the asphalt road between ŠćepanPolje and Trsa, you’ll have to take a forest road for 2 km. The household, situated at the very edge of the river Tara canyon, offers a sight to a fetching countryside – steep slopes of the canyon and turquoise color of the river Tara, Piva Mountain, Ljubošnja, Durmitor and some border parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Memorial Home in CrkvičkoPolje is around 7 km away. The Monastery Zagradje is some 18 km away and, close to it, you’ll find the remnants of the medieval town Soko Grad and necropolis tombs Greek Graveyard, which is under UNESCO protection. The remnants of the medieval church of St. Stephen – Šćepanica in ŠćepanPolje are only 18 km away. A national mountain trail no. 192 passes next to the household and it connects it, on one side, over the mountain Piva to the National Park Durmitor, and on the other side, to CrkvičkoPolje and ŠćepanPolje. The attractive viewpoint ŠćepanovaStijena, situated a few hundred meters from the household, is the starting point of the local mountain trail which leads down to the river Tara, and then it connects this adventure to the new one – rafting tours that begin in Brštanovica and finish in ŠćepanPolje. There are numerous other trails passing close to the household that connect it to CrkvičkoPolje, such as the local mountain trail with some stunning views from numerous viewpoints, like MaričinaGreda and Zagonica and a local biking trail that goes through the katuns.
